I’ve experimented with clowns as a medium to portray emotions better and as a character whose social role is entertainment. I found an instant connection- besides liking their colourful unique aesthetic, one of my nicknames is Bozo, a teacher referred to me as a "clown artist"', my current hair style looks a bit like a clown wig and the clothes I wear are often funny and colourful. During my time in Glasgow, I became a bit sick and found myself with no crowd to entertain except myself, I felt even more of an outsider and was very self conscious and "In my head"; different from everybody else but also in a normal way as everybody feels like this at times, and each person is an island - the same sensation that makes genuine art "good" - relatable yet unique. Feeling this way while eating outdoors led me to this Hopper homage painting. The thought that "everybody is feeling like this" lead me to paint the couple next to me as clowns but as a couple I portrayed them as similar clowns.
