Seraph - 2021

Drypoint print

15.5 x 27 cm

Drypoint print of an angelic beast. Originally drawn in my sketchbook, I used carbon paper to transfer it to the zinc plate. The bleeding of the ink, along with the hollowness of the subject give the print a more metaphysical feeling. The background is the remains of badly cleaned ink, working as a gust or aura around the seraph, made of the same material as him.
Unlike my usual attempts of transferring drawing qualities into my paintings, this time I did quite the opposite and elevated a drawing with painting qualities using print as a tool.
