George - 2022
Acrylic and marker on canvas and plastic
35.5 x 25 x 13
While on student exchange In Glasgow, I found myself missing the family's cat George.
George is notorious for standing next to his food bowl at most times and asking for more food, even if the bowl is full, as he is a street rescue and probably has some sort of malnutrition trauma.
While painting I mixed the colours in some leftover plastic food wrapping as I often do.
After a while with both the painting and the plastic on my desk I noticed that the plastic looks a lot like a cat's food and water bowls.
Equivalent to the George living through these bowls so does the painting through this plastic.

This site specific work puts in doubt and questions medium and authenticity. It takes one step back from material, from "George" (Painting) and George (Cat).
