In this self portrait I continued to research material balance on canvas, this time I tried to do 50/50 on the paint/no paint scale. I continued to paint symbolistic elements and this time limited myself to 3 line types. I used the sun and cloud as composition elements and as amorphic shapes that have lines coming shooting outwards, like the cactus.
I tried to distance the sun visually from the real sun and the classic iconc until it looked like a scar or a biological being. The figure is embracing the current state of weather (both real and metaphoric) as he has no power over it.
