Artist Statement

I am a painter who also works in sculpture, drawing, print, and digital media, often bringing everything together in installations where each piece contributes to a larger whole. I see art and humour as the same tool - a means of survival, of communication and innovation.

My process is instinct-driven and materially honest, with focus on colour and texture. I work fast, reuse found and recycled materials, resist over-finishing - the traces of making remain visible and intentional. Subjects, materials and locations are chosen for being in the right place at the right time. In my eyes a painting is an object, a sculpture is a surface, the work lives in the tension between these readings, and often in the gap between a memory and its retelling.

The imagery comes from the everyday: the banal, the overlooked, the absurd. I want the viewer to feel understood, to find humour in something heavy, and to leave a little lighter than they arrived.
