Portfolio Statement

Im primarily a painter, but I create in an installation oriented manner and challenge the boundaries between mediums. I view art, along with humor, as essential tools for survival and socio-political criticism and activism in my local climate.

Driven by an urgent need express and repurpose emotions while contributing to the field. My creative process is led by instincts and ignorance with the goal being maintaining emotional and material rawness, conveying sincerity and immediacy.

I focus on colour, composition, and texture to create works that allow each viewer to relate while seeing something unique.

My works explore the contrast between the banal and unique, focusing on the beauty and humor existing in daily life. I often reuse and recycling of ready-made objects. The art examines human, environmental, and cultural relationships through anthropomorphized figures, particularly comic ones, which serve as a symbol of triumph amongst hardship.

In a contemporary context, the artworks include familiar elements to challenge and rekindle traditional expectations, creating a dialogue between the mundane and the meaningful, and inviting audiences to see and ponder deeper layers of reality in the everyday.
